Post link: jQuery Cleditor wysiwyg text editor: keyup() works in webkit browsers but not Firefox or IE

I’m trying to follow up on a previous Stackoverflow question about how to display content from a Cleditor textbox in an external HTML element such as a “<”p”>”. Here’s the question and the fiddle which solves my problem in webkit browsers but not Firefox or IE:

jQuery Cleditor get textarea value on keyup and http://jsfiddle.net/qm4G6/12/

here’s the code from the fiddle:

<textarea id="input" name="input"></textarea>
<p id="x"></p>

<script>
  $  ("#input").cleditor();

  $  (".cleditorMain iframe").contents().find('body').bind('keyup',function(){
    var v = $  (this).text(); // or .html() if desired
    $  ('#x').html(v);
  });
</script>

I’ve read Get content of iframe from jquery that I need to use “window.top…. to access the main page and pass it that way because .contents() is not supported by all browsers” but i’m not sure how to use window.top for this purpose and am hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this topic.

thank you!

I’m trying to find some jQuery/JavaScript wysiwyg editors that are simply made specifically for editing raw code. Don’t need any formatting and needs to only accept plain text.

The most important feature is to have line numbers, It would be even good if it colors the code in real time.

Light weight solutions are always preferred.

Post link: How do i use WYSIWYG to edit a label on the fly?

I am building an online survey tool. A Question entity looks like this:

[Question]
int QuestionId { get; set; }
int QuestionNumber { get; set; }
String QuestionText { get; set; }
QuestionType QuestionType { get; }

When i display a Question on my website, it displays QuestionText, and differet answer possibilities depending to the QuestionType.

When i want to edit a question, i have an edit view.

My boss wants a WYSIWYG editor, so that he can click on the QuestionText label on my website, and be able to edit it directly from there, without having to go to another page. How would i approach this?

My guess is: I need an action controller that takes QuestionId and the new QuestionText as parameters, and use AJAX to send it, so that the change will be seamless. To edit the current label, i need a onclick event, that opens some kind of editor that displays the current label text. When i click on OK in the editor, it will call the action controller and change the text. If the update succeeds, i will send some information back, to let the AJAX method know it has succeeded, and then update the label on the website.

Is this the correct way to do it? Any comments, examples and solutions are welcome!

Download now premiumaccountstools.blogspot.com A What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get Web site builder Web Builder is an WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) utility that gives you the possibility to build web pages. WYSIWYG means that the finished page will display exactly the way it was designed. The program generates HTML (HyperText Markup Language) tags while you point and click on desired functions; you can create a web page without learning HTML. Just drag and drop objects to the page position them ‘anywhere’ you want and when you’re finished publish it to your web server (using the build in Publish tool). Web Builder gives you full control over the content and layout of your web page. What’s New in This Release: · Improved: All objects now use the same default font (based on the values in Page Properties) · Improved: Image export will now use the name/id of the object instead of ‘untitled’ · Improved: ‘Save’ command only enabled if project has been modified · Improved: Font-family styles are now quoted if the fontname contains a white-space · Improved: Updated all jQuery UI components to version 1.8.11 · Improved: Updated prettyPhoto lightbox to version 3.0.3 · Improved: Added support for multiple prettyPhoto galleries on one page · Improved: Switched ‘Align Centers’ and ‘Align Middles’ commands · Improved: Moved ‘resample’ to end of the effect stack so it will only be included once · Improved: Publish window size is now saved between sessions · Improved: Email

Question by Jeff: jQuery Breaks Wysiwyg Editor in Internet Explorer?
Just at a complete loss, styling this exactly the way I wanted took quite some time and I now discover I’m having some serious issues within IE.

http://youhatethatjob.com/?page_id=93

Any idea whatsoever on how to prevent that squishing from occurring?
Figured it out. In case anyone runs into a similar issue with nicEdit, just open up the nicEdit.js file and switch the following line:

({width:(parseInt(B.getStyle(“width”))||B.clientWidth)+”px”})

to this:

({width:(B.clientWidth)||parseInt(B.getStyle(“width”))+”px”})

Best answer:

Answer by Rorysauce
Use clientWidth instead of getStyle(“width”) I’ve had to fix that before

Post link: Modifying multiple lines in text area WYSIWYG editor

I am trying to make a text-editor-like memo page for one of my sites where people can create memos and send them out to various people. In it, I am trying to add the functionality of making text bold, underline, change font size, ect. I have a text area where people can type, and the buttons above it for them to click on (see below). My problem is the difference between the caret positions returned in IE and FF when trying to change multiple lines. I have debugged my code and found the problem to be the returned starting value for the caret position in IE. The following code works perfect in FF, but doesn’t in IE:

Example (trying to make efgh ijkl bold): Firefox output: IE output:

abcd                                           abcd                     abcd<b>efgh

efgh                                           <b>efgh                  ijkl</b>ijkl

ijkl                                           ijkl</b>                 mnop

mnop                                           mnop

HTML (yes, it is in a table because it is part of a form with other elements):

    <form action='' method='post' enctype='multipart/form-data'>
    <table>
    <tr><td>Memo Title</td><td colspan='3'><input id="title" class='col400' type='text' name='title' /></td></tr>

    <tr><td>To</td><td colspan='3'><input class='col400' type='text' name='to' /></td></tr>
    <tr><td>Body</td><td colspan="3">
            <div id="editor">
              <div id="editorButtons">
                <input data="b" type="button" value="B"/><input data="i" type="button" value="I" /><input data="span" styles="text-decoration: underline;" type="button" value="U" />

NOTE I am NOT looking for a pre-built plugin. I would like to make my own, so please don’t suggest other WYSIWYG editors.

Any help you all can provide would be greatly appreciated. If you would like any information I haven’t posted here, please let me know and I’ll try to put it up.

Thank you!
